On January 4th, the book launch event for two academic monographs in the \u2018Management Theory Based on Chinese Practice\u2019 series from the Paris Dauphine-PSL Executive DBA program was successfully held. The new books are “Research on Corporate Related Diversification Development from the Perspective of the Co-Evolution Process”\u00a0by 2017 alumni, Dr. Zhangyi LI; \u00a0and “Research on the Field Flow Narrative and Its\u00a0Revenue Management Model” by 2017 alumni, Dr. Jun PAN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Vice President and Director of the Academic Committee of Beijing National Accounting Institute, Professor Xuhong LI; Deputy Director of the National CIMS Center at Tsinghua University, Professor Yushun FAN; Director of the China Case Center for Business Management at Tsinghua University, Professor Xiaoming ZHENG; the former President of the Economic Management Press and Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Professor Shixian ZHANG; the Tsinghua University Press Economic Management and Humanities and Social Science branch, President Zhibin LIU; the Tsinghua University Press Economics and Humanities and Social Sciences Branch, Editor Tanjiao FU; President Ya GAO from the Boguan Branch of the Economic Management Press; Dr. Zhangyi LI, 2017 alumni and President of Shenzhen Sunwoda Comprehensive Energy Services Co., Ltd.; Dr. Jun PAN, 2017 alumni and CEO of Beijing Zhongjia Space Display Design Co., Ltd., attended the event ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Xuhong LI is the Vice President and Director of the Academic Committee of Beijing National Accounting Institute (BNAI). She congratulated Dr. Zhangyi LI and Dr. Jun PAN on behalf of BNAI. She said, “From defending your doctoral dissertations to publicly publishing your research achievements, you have transformed from ‘academic exploration’ to ‘research excellence,’ and transitioned from ‘creating knowledge’ to ‘disseminating knowledge.’ By publishing these original findings, you will undoubtedly promote the dissemination and sharing of knowledge, and assist entrepreneurs and managers in integrating management theory with practice.” Finally, she expressed her anticipation for more students from the Paris Dauphine-PSL Executive DBA program to publish their research outcomes, continually enriching the “Management Theory Based on Chinese Practice” library and contributing to the reform and development of enterprises in China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Yushun FAN, Deputy Director of the National CIMS Engineering Technology Research Center at Tsinghua University, first warmly congratulated the two students. He remarked, “There are three major events in life\u2014establishing a family, building a career, and writing books and speeches. The publication of academic monographs by these two students represents a successful achievement in their lives.” He also emphasized the significant social importance of many students, represented by Dr. Zhangyi LI and Dr. Jun PAN, publishing academic monographs. “In the past, we learned Western management theories, and later began to publish papers to enrich management theories. China’s management models must rely on local scholars to research and disseminate them. The doctoral dissertations and publication of academic monographs by students of the Paris Dauphine-PSL Executive DBA program are dedicated to refining Chinese management theories and spreading Chinese management ideas.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He stated, “This is a significant academic work. Dr. LI has deeply analyzed how enterprises achieve synergistic evolution during diversification, providing valuable insights and inspiration for sustainable development. The former President of the Economic Management Press and Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Professor Shixian ZHANG warmly congratulated the two students. Passing the defense proves the students’ research capabilities, but daring to revise and publicly publish their doctoral dissertations, daring to present their viewpoints, and accepting societal judgment, holds crucial significance for the Chinese management academic community. The achievements made in China’s 45 years of reform and opening-up are distinctive and represent a path of modernization with Chinese characteristics. Many innovations in our management field are unparalleled globally, and many case studies hold unique significance. The publication of academic achievements by students of the Paris Dauphine-PSL Executive DBA program signifies the forefront and highest level of Chinese management academia making its mark globally. With ‘China’ now established as an academic branch in the world management literature repository, and with the appearance of academic achievements from the Paris Dauphine-PSL Executive DBA program, it contributes significantly.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Shixian ZHANG believes that publicly publishing a doctoral dissertation may be the highest achievement in one’s lifetime. According to incomplete statistics, the publication rate of doctoral dissertations at a renowned university is less than 5%. Therefore, the public publication of dissertations by these two students is not only a personal achievement but also an honor for Beijing National Accounting Institute (BNAI), Paris Dauphine-PSL, and the Executive DBA program. “The publication rate of doctoral dissertations from the Paris Dauphine-PSL Executive DBA program far exceeds this figure, representing the highest narrative in Chinese management academia and contributing significantly to society.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, he expressed that the power of role models is infinite. The sparks of thought brought by these two books, along with the power of role models, will continue to guide the students in the program to create original management ideas rooted in Chinese soil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The author of “Research on the Field Flow Narrative and Its Revenue Management Model,” Dr. Jun PAN is 2017 alumni and CEO of Beijing Zhongjia Space Display Design Co., Ltd.. He introduced the core ideas of the book, “In the digital age, finding a specialized model applicable to experiential marketing enterprise revenue management has become a necessary condition for maximizing business operation revenues. Based on this, Zhongjia Group has synthesized past successful cases to form a methodology of experiential marketing narrative: by refining the brand’s primary emotions, connecting emotional roadmaps, using digital technology as a means, and creating a three-dimensional structure combined with experience and sensory perception to shape situations of ‘interwoven contradictions.’ Through the integration of physical and virtual spaces, it constructs a mixed-field narrative method that evokes a flow experience, known as ‘Field Flow Narrative.'”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, Dr. Jun PAN expressed his gratitude to the Paris Dauphine-PSL Executive DBA program, as well as Professor Zhanwen NIU and Professor Yushun FAN, “You have been my guides. From qualitative analysis to quantitative analysis, you have enabled me to see beyond the surface of things and understand their essence. This has allowed me to conduct meaningful research in my industry, resulting in the ‘Field Flow Narrative’ and the revenue management model that brings profits to enterprises.” As a alumni, he hopes all alumnus will cherish their time of studying together, defend their dissertations as soon as possible, and become an outstanding scholars and contribute back to society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The author of “Research on Corporate Related Diversification Development from the Perspective of Co-evolution Process,” Dr. Zhangyi Li, the 2017 alumni and President of Shenzhen Sunwoda Comprehensive Energy Services Co., Ltd., “This book is a retrospective summary for me, is summarizing the company’s development process and key success factors. Since I joined Sunwoda in 2010, we have grown from less than 500 million in 2009 to 50 billion last year. It took us twelve to thirteen years to achieve a hundredfold growth, which is not easy in the manufacturing industry. This book attempts to explore and summarize, extracting insights from our successful experiences. Practice has proved that small businesses can also be done step by step.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, Dr. Zhangyi LI also expressed, “This book is also a forward-looking exploration for me. I remember during my defense, the professor asked me: Does this research have any practical guidance for your actual work? In fact, this research does provide practical guidance for my work. Over the past six years, I have been re-incubating a business – energy storage. In these six years, the compound annual growth rate has exceeded 95%, with a 96% growth rate last year. I have been applying the models from my book in the process of doing business, which demonstrates a practical application of theory. Our research is not just about publishing; these theories can in turn further guide our work. Of course, in practice, turning business operations into reality also validates the correctness of the theory, this is creating a virtuous cycle.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, Dr. Zhangyi LI expressed his hope that the present alumnus would conduct research step by step, explore theories to understand truths, approach truths, refine their skills in practice, continuously elevate their perspectives and achieve success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the end of the event, the guests and two authors jointly unveiled the two new books: “Research on Corporate Related Diversification Development from the Perspective of the Co-Evolution Process” and “Research on the Field Flow Narrative and Its Revenue Management Model.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Achieving Corporate Thought Leaders<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Achieving Corporate Thought Leaders” is the guiding principle of the Paris Dauphine-PSL Executive DBA program, which focuses on research and is dedicated to developing “Chinese management thought.” The program has produced over 70 outstanding doctoral dissertations, and establishing a doctoral library. Consequently, the program has moved from “creating knowledge” to the next stage\u2014”disseminating knowledge.” It is committed to contributing alumni’s knowledge achievements to society and promoting the sustainable development of Chinese enterprises. Therefore, in 2022, on the occasion of the program’s tenth anniversary, the project team signed a memorandum of understanding with Tsinghua University Press and Economic Management Press. This will see the publication of a series of academic monographs based on alumni’s doctoral dissertations, under the theme “Management Thought Based on Chinese Practice.” (“Management Thought Based on Chinese Practice” Series of Academic Monographs Published | Paris Dauphine-PSL Executive DBA Program 10th Anniversary Series of Activities)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Yushun FAN once said a sentence that has always inspired the students of the Paris Dauphine-PSL Executive DBA program: “While entrepreneurs and managers establish their virtues and achieve success, they continuously refine and elevate their management practices through their doctoral research at Paris Dauphine-PSL Executive DBA, forming their own management philosophy. They explore innovative models under new conditions and publish books to express their insights, which is an unparalleled personal and social achievement.” With the successive publication of academic monographs by Dr. Zhangyi LI and Dr. Jun PAN, more alumni from the Paris Dauphine-PSL Executive DBA program will document their management theories in books.
